Blue Earth Summit is returning to Bristol from 11-13 October for its third year. Inspired by the great outdoors, the three-day business summit plays host to industry pioneers, provocative thought-leaders, sustainability trailblazers, insightful solutionists and boundary-pushing start-ups.
Under the theme of Adventure and Outdoors, the Summit includes Olympic Gold Medallist Chris Boardman MBE, who is now Chair of Sport England and a Cycling and Walking Commissioner. The Tour de France stage winner will help deliver the closing keynote talk on Thursday 12 October at 4:30pm on the transformative power of sport.
The talk will see presenter Keme Nzerem welcome Boardman to the stage with sports industry lawyer Rowena Samarasinhe to discuss how sport can help us reach vulnerable and marginalised groups, communicating messages of social empowerment, inclusion and sustainability.
Other sporting experts include surfer and scientist Easkey Britton on blue health and her new book ‘Ebb and Flow’; climber and adventurer Leo Houlding talking about 21st Century exploration; founder and global CEO of Surfers Not Street Children Tom Hewitt MBE; and Emma Twyford one of the legends of British climbing talking about how we grow the next generation of outdoor stewards.

SUMMIT STARS
The Summit includes 200 speakers, five stages, and two venues across three days and will focus on three themes: Adventure and the Outdoors, Purpose-led Business and Re-imagining Futures.
On the first day of the Summit the inaugural 2023 Blue Earth Lecture will be given by British-Nigerian historian, BAFTA winning producer and best-selling author, David Olusoga OBE. The BBC presenter will tell the story of Britain’s complex history of the outdoors and share lessons for a reimagined future.
Musician and former Undertones star Feargal Sharkey will also deliver a discussion on environmental regeneration.
Alongside the speaker programme the event drives action through The Pitch Tent where start-up and scale-up businesses are able to pitch live to investors looking to fund sustainable enterprises. The summit aims to raise £10m in investment for start-ups and businesses, after successfully raising £6m from the event last year.
Blue Earth Summit takes place from October 11 to 13 at two venues. Days 1 and 2 are the Propyard in Bristol and the third day is at the inland surf destination, The Wave, for more speakers, workshops, outdoor activities and ideas sharing.
